About The Position

This role involves assisting the Chief Engineer in overseeing the daily operations of the Engineering Department. Responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance on hotel equipment, systems, and facilities, as well as troubleshooting and repairing HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and general building systems. The position requires completing work orders and maintenance requests promptly, assisting with task assignments for the Engineering team, monitoring property conditions, and coordinating with vendors. Maintaining accurate records, supporting a safe work environment, and collaborating with other departments to ensure an exceptional guest experience are also key aspects of this role. The Assistant Chief Engineer will respond professionally to guest maintenance concerns.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve maintenance-related issues independently
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work orders
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and perform physical work including standing, walking, bending, climbing, pushing, and pulling

  • Ability to delight by anticipating guest needs and responding in a friendly, helpful manner
  • Ability to display a consistently caring and respectful attitude
  • Act as a gracious host to guests, vendors, and candidates for employment

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 2 years of maintenance, facilities, engineering, or hotel maintenance experience preferred
  • Pool Certification (CPO) preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chief Engineer in overseeing the daily operations of the Engineering Department

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
  • Support a safe work environment by following company policies and safety regulations
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure an exceptional guest experience
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest maintenance concerns
