About The Position

This position involves assisting the head coach in teaching cheerleading fundamentals, skills, rules, and regulations to student-athletes at West Warwick High School. The role requires promoting good sportsmanship, supervising players, and ensuring compliance with all relevant athletic department, school, and league rules. The assistant coach will also help communicate program expectations, monitor athlete performance, and maintain behavioral standards.

Requirements

Knowledge in particular sport based upon experience as a participant and/or coach
Must meet RIIL/RIPCOA coaching certification and training requirements
Demonstrated ability in recognizing that the growth and development of each student -athlete requires meeting their individual needs

Responsibilities

Teach fundamentals and skills
Assist with organizing and running practice sessions
Teach rules and regulations
Display and teach good sportsmanship
Assist in maintaining, issuing and collecting of all equipment and supplies
Supervise players at all times
Comply with all Athletic Department, school and RI Interscholastic League Rules and Regulations / RIPCOA
Attend all coaches’ meetings, practices and contests as needed
Assist with communicating program expectations to student - athletes and parents
Monitor each athlete’s athletic and academic performance
Assist with establishing and maintaining consistent standard and behavior
