The Assistant Camp Director will be a positive role model for youth, bringing an equity lens to all programs and services in line with organizational values. This role involves assisting with the design, delivery, and evaluation of high-quality summer camp programming, including day and overnight camps. The Assistant Camp Director will also help train, supervise, and evaluate seasonal staff, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and organizational policies. Communication with parents/caregivers regarding program procedures, participant incidents, and other concerns is a key responsibility. The role provides direct support to programs, including behavior intervention, ratio support, transportation assistance, and crisis management, while ensuring compliance with ACA standards and industry best practices. Additionally, the Assistant Camp Director will assist with data collection and evaluation, stay updated on Camp Fire national initiatives, and develop new programs and partnerships. A significant part of the role involves assisting with the overall management of Camp Hantesa and Camp Canwita’s operations, including food service, budgeting, camp store, health care, housekeeping, facilities development, transportation, and community events. The position also assists with recruiting, hosting, and retaining community user groups and performs other duties as assigned.
