About The Position

This role involves performing essential duties related to customer service, transaction processing, and branch operations. The Assistant Branch Retail Manager supports the Branch Retail Manager and Market President in supervising retail functions, managing staff, training, ensuring system integrity, overseeing cash handling, resolving customer complaints, approving transactions, managing the CARE program, conducting cash counts, and ensuring compliance with banking regulations. The position also requires contributing to customer satisfaction, bank growth, and efficient branch operations through sales, cross-selling, and accurate transaction processing.

Responsibilities

  • Serve customers at a window or desk and process a variety of transactions including deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, loan payments, and sale of money orders, cashier’s checks, and prepaid cards.
  • Ensure dual control procedures are followed and all documentation is accurate and complete, adhering to all internal policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.
  • Balance individual cash drawer daily, maintain authorized cash levels, and report, investigate, and correct balancing errors.
  • Balance vault cash and branch cash daily, order/sell cash or coin through the Federal Reserve, and coordinate armored car transportation.
  • Provide miscellaneous customer services such as wire transfers, stop payments, check orders, notary acknowledgments, and debit card disputes.
  • Close out accounts as requested by customers and redeem certificates of deposit.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, resolve customer inquiries, or transfer calls to the appropriate department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, which may include filling and balancing ATMs, performing file maintenance reviews, following dormant account procedures, assisting with safe deposit audits, and filling teller supplies.
  • Follow the Customer Acquisition and Relationship Enhancement (CARE) program to sell and cross-sell bank products and services, determining customer needs and recommending appropriate solutions.
  • Accept, review, and approve or reject applications for new accounts, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with identification and OFAC check requirements.
  • Open approved new accounts with accurate documentation and disclosures, inputting information into the system and setting up associated services.
  • Demonstrate and assist customers with online banking, bill payment, mobile banking, and other online services.
  • Supervise, on a day-to-day basis, some or all of the retail functions to ensure efficient operations and excellent customer service.
  • Ensure consistent procedures and guidelines are followed by staff and promptly communicate issues to management.
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, appraising, and disciplining subordinate employees.
  • Provide direct management of branch retail staff and functions in the absence of the Branch Retail Manager.
  • Assist with the training, motivation, and development of branch retail staff, including conducting staff meetings.
  • Assist with ensuring the system integrity and document accuracy of all transactions performed by CCA and Teller staff.
  • Monitor transaction errors to identify causes and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure high standards for teller balancing are met and immediately report significant offages.
  • Oversee adherence to cash, dual, and other internal controls by retail staff.
  • Oversee the scanning of branch work daily, ensuring accuracy and proper balancing.
  • Perform or oversee vault teller duties, including verification of Federal Reserve cash shipments.
  • Resolve customer complaints and inquiries in a timely and effective manner.
  • Approve checks for cashing and deposit, sign cashier’s checks, approve/decline debit card limit increases and mobile deposit limits, and approve customer wire transfer requests within approved limits.
  • Assist with management of the CARE program to ensure standards are met and maintain accuracy of the CARE tracking spreadsheet.
  • Conduct and document scheduled and surprise cash counts of CCA/Teller cash, vault, ATM, and electronic cash recycler.
  • Assist with completion of branch internal controls procedures and maintenance of the branch internal controls binder.
  • Assist with efforts to ensure compliance with retail-related regulations, including reviewing Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) for accuracy.
