About The Position

The Assistant Branch Manager, reporting to the Branch Manager, is responsible for supervising and directing branch staff activities. This role, along with the Branch Manager, is crucial for achieving branch goals, ensuring efficient branch operations, maintaining branch profitability, and participating in business development. The Assistant Branch Manager will also be involved in lending and collection activities, identifying opportunities to offer products and services that benefit both members and Alero Financial Credit Union. All duties must be performed in compliance with federal and state laws, credit union policies and procedures, and with a constant focus on the credit union's core values.

Requirements

  • High school graduate and three to five years of credit union experience or closely related field with equal responsibility.
  • Capable of training and instructing others through effective communication.
  • Ability to reason and resolve problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Previous lending and collections experience with a financial institution preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, direct and control branch staff activity.
  • Achieve branch goals, provide efficient branch operations, and ensure branch profitability.
  • Participate in business development activities.
  • Manage lending and collection activity.
  • Identify needs to offer products and services that provide maximum benefit to both the member and Alero Financial Credit Union.
  • Monitor performance behaviors, coach, and document activity of the branch staff.
  • Ensure all branch staff, vault and ATM are in balance each day and assist in resolving discrepancies.
  • Retrieve vault cash for branch staff.
  • Assist Branch Manager in achieving corporate and branch goals and objectives while maintaining branch standards.
  • Assist the Branch Manager with the coordination of ongoing training and orientation of new staff.
  • Responsible for the opening, closing, and ongoing management of the branch in the absence of the Branch Manager.
  • Manage branch cash within assigned currency limits.
  • Order and verify cash received under dual control and maintain inventory of negotiable instruments.
  • Approve and authorize override transactions within range of authority.
  • Maintain and update all branch signage and disclosures.
  • Receive and respond to member inquiries/complaints in a timely manner.
  • Maintain sufficient supply of all current branch materials.
  • Monitor and review daily, weekly and monthly reports.
  • Perform audits of loan paperwork, new accounts, cash and other negotiable items.
  • Maintain a high level of product knowledge and procedural expertise to assist staff with technical problems.
  • Ensure all accounts are opened in accordance with established policies and procedures, proper records are maintained and accounts are entered on the credit union’s system properly.
  • Assist in expediting Alero Financial Credit Union’s Disaster Recovery plan as needed.
  • Assist Branch Manager in establishing and enforcing controls within the branch to ensure the processing of member loan requests are within appropriate timeframe.
  • Evaluate and approve member loan requests in accordance with Alero Financial Credit Union’s policies/procedures.
  • Establish repayment schedules, interest rates, etc.; ensure that all loans are processed in compliance with appropriate laws, regulations and credit union policies, to include perfecting liens/security interests when applicable.
  • Prepare and complete loan documentation upon approval.
  • Disburse loan proceeds as authorized and directed by appropriate loan level officers.
  • Notify members whose loan requests have been denied and provide required documents to applicants within established time guidelines.
  • Responsible for the audit of all loan paperwork and maintenance of weekly and monthly statistics of loan approvals and rejections.
  • Responsible for cross-selling debt cancellation, MRC, GAP and all other Alero Financial Credit Union products/services.
  • Collect on delinquent accounts and negative shares assigned to the branch.
  • Responsible for reporting delinquent account status monthly.
  • Educate members, disseminate information and cross-sell credit union products/services that meet members’ needs.
  • Assist Branch Manager in nurturing/developing relationships with sponsor/partner companies.
  • Participate in business development activities and tracking.
  • Conduct cross-selling and follow-up functions, including outbound calling to increase multiple account relationships and member satisfaction.
  • Assist Branch Manager in any projects or training programs necessary to educate staff/members in new or updated procedures/policies/services.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
