Requirements

  • Minimum three to five years progressively responsible Branch and/or financial institution experience in member service position.
  • Thorough knowledge of teller, member service, and loan policies and procedure.
  • A high school education or GED is required.
  • Must obtain a Level 1 lender designation within 6 months of being selected for the position.
  • Must successfully complete ISSP training within 6 months of selection for the position.
  • Must possess excellent problem-solving skills and written and verbal communication skills.
  • PC proficient.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Branch.
  • Perform all duties of a Member Advisor, including selling and processing loans, opening, closing and cross-selling new accounts, and answering member questions concerning Credit Union services and performing a variety of account maintenance functions.
  • Perform all duties of Teller/MSR as needed.
  • Act as Branch Manager in his/her absence.
  • Respond to questions and/or provide information upon request from internal and external members in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Directly supervise the MSR Is, MSR IIs, and Member Advisors in the successful performance of their duties.
  • Assist members and potential members in understanding and utilizing Credit Union products and services.
  • Perform duties and responsibilities in accordance with The Apple Way principles, of Team Up, Serve with Purpose, Challenge Yourself and Own It.
  • Remain cognizant of and adhere to credit union policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Perform other Branch duties, as assigned, by the Branch Manager.
  • Perform duties of Teller/Member Service Rep, MSRII, MSRIII/Member Advisor and Branch Manager, as needed.
  • Support the credit union’s goals and core values, and help instill these values in the branch staff.
  • Build a team whose main objective is to provide members with the best possible service.
  • Ensure that branch employees incorporate the Apple Way principles with external and internal members.
  • Ensure the branch is open and ready to conduct business each business day.
  • Assign various operational duties, as appropriate, to Member Service Representatives IIIs, MSR IIs, and Teller/MSRs.
  • Ensure The Apple Way Service principles are maintained at all times.
  • Sell and process loans, meet branch sales goals, explain savings and checking programs, open new accounts, issue traveler’s checks, IRA’s CD’s, approve checks, and deal with difficult members.
  • Supervise branch personnel to assure a trained, motivated and professional staff capable of providing efficient and effective service while ensuring positive member relations.
  • Schedule, assign work to, coach and counsel staff.
  • Deliver constructive feedback and maintain required personnel documentation.
  • Assist in authorizing performance appraisals and gather data as needed to evaluate staff performance.
  • Assist members in completing loans and related paperwork.
  • Gather information required to make credit decisions.
  • Conduct credit checks and analyze credit-worthiness of members for some types of consumer loans.
  • Stay abreast of Apple’s loan underwriting guidelines and policies and procedures.
  • Notify members of loan decisions done by centralized underwriting team.
  • Make recommendations for decision to approve or decline loan to the centralized underwriters.
  • Coordinate with branch manager and other branch personnel as necessary to secure approvals.
  • Review credit report for cross-sell opportunities when processing loan applications.
  • Make appropriate cross-sell offers to members explaining products’ features and benefits.
  • Overcome objections when appropriate.
  • Function as a trusted advisor to members by assessing their financial situation and making appropriate service and product recommendations.
  • Ensure that the Branch balances all transactions at the close of each business day.
  • Assist Teller/ MSRs to resolve balancing problems.
  • Ensure branch is in compliance with policies, procedures, laws, regulations and audit standards.
  • Ensure that staff is adequately trained and is effectively using Episys, Synapsys, Synergy, Akcelerant, and Microsoft as needed.
  • Ensure that all member contact in the branch is recorded in the Synapsys CRM and that all member on-boarding tasks are completed using the 2x2x2 methodology.
  • Ensure that staff members meet goals set for referral activity and acting on Potential Sales Opportunities (PSO’s) goals established by management.
  • Enforce and understand content of all Branch Operations manuals, including the Teller, MSR, Lending, Branch Manager, and Products and Services Manuals.
  • Ensure general maintenance, security, and safety of the branch.
  • Ensure all equipment is in proper working order.
  • Respond to audits and correct items as required.
  • Provide information and advice about a wide variety of Credit Union products and services.
  • Analyze members’ needs using learned interviewing skills and sell appropriate Credit Union products and services based on identified needs and Credit Union goals.
  • Complete required reports and work to meet branch and organizational goals.
  • Coordinate with other departments as necessary.
  • Refer members to departments/personnel providing specialized services as necessary.
  • Assume duties of Branch Manager as directed by the AVP of Branch Operations in the absence of a Branch Manager.
  • Encourage staff by example and positive coaching to use the skills learned in Apple Way of Integrity Selling Training (AWIS).
