About The Position

Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Assistant Branch Manager will assist in directing and administering the operations of the branch office; mastering all aspects of the operation of the branch; assisting members and staff with all transactions and requests and providing leadership to the member service team. This position manages the cash ordering process and ensures that the staff, ATM, branch, vault and negotiable items all balance. The Assistant Branch Manager is also responsible for ATM processing and ensures cash and supplies are organized and managed properly, while working closely with the Branch Manager on audits of cash, new accounts and daily activity and ensuring branch goals are met/exceeded, tracked, monitored and reported accordingly.

Requirements

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in a similar role, including supervision of 6 or more employees.
  • Holder of at least a high school diploma; AA or higher degree preferred; or combination of experience and education.
  • Possess knowledge of all products, services, policies and procedures offered by SCCCU, in addition to all laws and regulations affecting operations and staff including Bank Secrecy, OFAF and CIP/MIP standards/regulations.
  • Ability to manage, motivate, influence, train and ensure staff are meeting and exceeding performance goals.
  • Exemplary oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Astute leadership, time management, attention to detail, organizational, planning, effective multi-tasking, problem-solving, follow-through and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, 10-key calculator, the Microsoft suite of products and the operation of various types of office equipment to include copy machine, fax and multi-line phone.
  • Holder of valid CA driver’s license and clean and insurable driving record.
  • Ability to lift at least 40 pounds in weight when assigned to the mobile branch.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.
  • Must be fully bondable.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver outstanding service to members, internal team and the community through representing SCCCU in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Prepare and submit reports for the Branch Manager, Director of Branches, Director of Operational Excellence or EVP, as needed.
  • Assist in directing, developing, motivating, hiring and disciplining branch staff; assume responsibility for performance evaluations and staff recommendations under the Branch Manager.
  • Track, monitor and report performance service and sales goals; make recommendations for cross-selling improvement opportunities and coach staff to improve overall sales.
  • Monitor branch activity, including number of transactions, volume, teller errors, new accounts activities and report on said transactions.
  • Maintain a cohesive, highly-trained, motivated staff, sufficient to meet daily branch demands.
  • Maintain or exceed annual budgeted branch operating growth and service plans.
  • Effectively evaluate the efficiency of the branch and develop specific recommendations for improvements to personnel, facilities, products, pricing, policies and processes.
  • Deliver informed, professional and accurate service and support to all members and associates.
  • Meet or exceed the established branch goals each month and ensure direct reports achieve 90% of their individual goals.
  • Coach and develop a staff that proactively seeks opportunities to recommend products and services for the betterment of the members’ financial well-being.
  • Ensure all documentation is complete, timely and accurate.
  • Ensure cash stays within assigned limits.
  • Monitor potential fraud within branch, as well as security and safety of branch operation; make recommendations for increased security and policy or procedural changes, as necessary.
  • Make recommendations for changes to branch policies, standards and procedures; ensure that operational policy and procedural manuals are properly maintained.
  • Analytical and detail oriented; capable of multi-tasking.
  • Maintains a positive attitude with employees and members; remains flexible while focused on accepted practices and policy.
  • Carries out assigned duties and responsibilities with minimal errors according to established department standards.
