About The Position

This role involves determining customer financial needs, opening loan and deposit accounts, and achieving individual sales goals. The Assistant Branch Manager provides support to the Branch Manager and assists in the supervisory responsibility for the efficient and effective operation of the branch customer service function. This includes creating a working environment focused on exceptional service and sales efforts, coaching staff on sales expectations, and completing required leadership training. The position focuses on executing sales conversations, profiling customers, recommending appropriate loan and deposit products, and utilizing customer service software to improve efficiency. Responsibilities also include preparing loan applications, opening new deposit accounts, suggesting additional bank services, making referrals to other business lines, and following up on opened accounts. The role requires contributing to branch goals, executing professional sales and service behaviors, and maintaining good working relationships with other departments. NMLS requirements must be met for S.A.F.E. Act certification.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus specialized training or a two-year degree.
  • Successful completion of PB requirements.
  • Five to ten years of general business experience.
  • Successful completion of the retail training program required.
  • Proof of registration with the registry and verification of a unique identifier as established under the guidelines of the S.A.F.E. Act is required upon hire and/or must be obtained prior to performing the duties of a Mortgage Loan Originator, as defined by the Act.
  • This registration must be maintained annually in accordance with the S.A.F.E. Act.

Nice To Haves

  • One to two years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Completion of the Frontline, Platform Sales & RSS Operational training as assigned by Consumer Bank Training in conjunction with Retail Operations.
  • Demonstration of product knowledge, sales aptitude, and service expectations in a successful manner.
  • Completion of the Bank’s leader classes (STELLAR) as assigned by Employee Services.
  • Completion of Leadership courses as scheduled by Consumer Bank Training.

Responsibilities

  • Determine customer financial services needs and refer to other Lines of Business when appropriate.
  • Open loan and deposit accounts.
  • Achieve individual goals including loan and deposit production and other assigned sales goals.
  • Provide support to the Branch Manager.
  • Assist in the supervisory responsibility for the efficient and effective operation of the branch customer service function.
  • Create a working environment focused on exceptional service and sales efforts.
  • Coach staff regarding sales expectations and achieving assigned goals.
  • Focus on execution of sales conversations, note-taking in appropriate systems while profiling customers to determine and recommend appropriate loan and deposit products.
  • Utilize appropriate customer service/correspondence software to streamline and improve efficiency while conducting interviews with customers to determine financial needs.
  • Follow up with customers by suggesting solutions that meet their stated and unstated needs.
  • Prepare loan applications using LOS software and coordinate loan document preparation.
  • Open new deposit accounts and produce signature cards, certificates of deposit and other deposit documents.
  • Suggest additional bank services such as other loan accounts, deposit services, and insurance products.
  • Make referrals to line of business as needed.
  • Follow up on loans and deposit accounts opened and correct deficiencies or document exceptions.
  • Complete outbound campaign calls on new and existing customers to generate new business as outlined in the Branch Playbook.
  • Work with customers on loan inquiries, take loan applications; utilize decision power applications as customers’ needs dictate.
  • Contribute to Branch goals and sales and service standards.
  • Execute professional sales and service behaviors in alignment with the Bank’s purpose, values, and core drivers.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with bank employees in other departments.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently, as well as motivated to work as a team player.
  • Complete NMLS requirements as part of the S.A.F.E. Act certification.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, and as necessary to support the successful operation of the branch.
