About The Position

The Assistant Branch Manager will support daily branch operations and lead drivers in their day-to-day activities to ensure timely, safe, and efficient operations. This role involves working alongside branch leadership to ensure all daily operations are completed, including completing routes for absent employees, assisting with morning duties like sorting freight and loading trucks, and tracking daily department reports. The Assistant Branch Manager will also monitor compliance with safety, DOT, and company policies, track freight flow and route performance, and recommend measures to improve productivity and customer service. Additionally, this role includes participating in weekly operational meetings, providing feedback on staff performance, assisting in training new staff, and potentially traveling for business needs. Other required duties as assigned will also be part of this role.

Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license or successfully complete company paid CDL training program within 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical exam.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work with all types of freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals.
  • Ability to build, motivate, and lead a high performing team.
  • Excellent management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of applicable federal, state, local and company safety policies.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including meeting deadlines and achieving results.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in Business Management, Logistics or Operations Management or related field preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in the transportation industry and leadership preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily branch operations and lead drivers to ensure timely, safe, and efficient operations.

  • Provide feedback to management regarding performance evaluations, attendance, or safety concerns.
  • Assist in training and onboarding of new staff.
  • Perform other required duties as assigned.
