About The Position

To assist customers and potential customers with their banking needs; look for cross-sell opportunities and make appropriate referrals. The Assistant Branch Manager I will assist the Branch Manager in resolving customer problems and complaints, ensure staff follows bank policies and procedures, and help branch personnel with questions and issues. This role also involves approving checks for cashing up to established limits, coordinating staff schedules, and making monthly schedules to ensure adequate branch staffing. Additionally, the Assistant Branch Manager I will train, direct, and evaluate employee performance, identify performance problems, and assist with corrective counseling. Responsibilities include monitoring and ensuring the proper completion of Branch Review Forms, assisting with quarterly surprise cash audits, performing teller duties, managing the vault, and monitoring branch activities for compliance with policies and regulations.

Requirements

  • Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
  • A two-year college degree, or completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.
  • Good communication skills.
  • 10-key calculator and computer keyboard skills required.
  • Must be accurate with numbers and names.

Responsibilities

  • Assists customers with the opening and closing all account types; answers questions about products and services and resolves problems; helps customers with electronic funds transfers; provides expertise in internet banking products; responds to problems and directs customers to the appropriate person or team; identifies cross-sell opportunities and cross-sells products and services. Perform teller duties as needed. Assists in taking consumer loan applications, entering data in loan system and help with closings.
  • Assists Branch Manager in resolving customer problems and complaints; ensures that staff follows bank policies and procedures and helps branch personnel with questions and issues; approves checks for cashing up to established limits; coordinates scheduling of vacations, sick days, etc. with all staff; makes monthly schedule to ensure branch is adequately staffed and work with the teller staffing coordinator to request relief needs.
  • Trains, directs, and evaluates employee performance within the department; identifies performance problems and assists Branch Manager with corrective counseling with branch staff.
  • Responsible for monitoring and ensuring the proper completion of the Branch Review Forms including communicating form updates to the branch staff when necessary.
  • Responsible for and assists with the quarterly surprise cash audits (tellers, RBG, & ATM); perform teller duties and manage the vault and daily cash target requirements when needed.
  • Monitors branch activities for compliance with established policy and regulations; takes action to resolve any non-compliant issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
