About The Position

To assist in the development and maintenance of a successful swim program. This role involves working positively with student athletes to teach essential athletic skills, proper attitudes for competitive play, and the importance of winning gracefully and losing with dignity. The assistant coach will represent the program positively within the community and adhere to the guidelines set by WIAA, Greater Spokane League, and the Pullman School District. Collaboration with Aquatic Center personnel and coordination of player development are key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • Successful competitive playing and/or coaching experience.
  • Per WIAA regulations, an assistant coach must be 19 years old.
  • Current First Aid/CPR card.
  • Swim safety or lifeguarding certification.
  • Ability to obtain a Pullman School District Type II driver’s license upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • College/University training or experience in the activity.
  • Coaching experience at the middle school level or above.

Responsibilities

  • Work positively with student athletes to teach essential athletic skills necessary to compete.
  • Teach proper attitudes to play the sport competitively.
  • Teach proper attitudes regarding winning gracefully and losing with dignity.
  • Meet preparation.
  • Positive presentation of the program to the community.
  • Work within guidelines of WIAA, Greater Spokane League, and the Pullman School District.
  • Work collaboratively with Aquatic Center personnel.
  • Provide leadership in developmental programs.
  • Coordinate player development and skill level.
  • Cooperate with other school programs.
  • Develop support for the program from players, students, parents, and community.
  • Adjust system to player personnel available upon recommendation of head coach.
  • Be a positive team builder who works in a collaborative manner.
  • Meet multiple demands in pressure situations and maintain high levels of quality work.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
  • Regularly demonstrate professionalism in appearance, actions, decisions, and overall performance.
  • Work with minimal supervision and be flexible.

Benefits

  • Salary: Stipend Position: $5,295-$6,195 per school year
