About The Position

The Assistant Boys Basketball Coach instructs student athletes in basketball fundamentals, strategy, and physical training to support individual and team success. The role also promotes moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence, while developing positive relationships with the school and community. The assistant coach reports to the head coach and high school athletic director and oversees assigned program-level activities under the head coach’s direction.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of boys basketball.
Possess or be able to acquire a valid Colorado Coaching Certificate.
Successfully pass the CHSAA coaches test, obtain CHSAA coaching registration, and complete a concussion course as required by state legislation and CHSAA bylaws.
Current CPR and AED certification.
Previous successful teaching, coaching, and/or sport participation experience.
All certifications, licenses, and registrations must be valid and unexpired.

Responsibilities

Assist with organizing and developing the high school program.
Supervise assigned aspects of the program under the head coach’s direction.
Provide the head coach with program-level information, including scores, schedules, sites, discipline concerns, and procedures.
Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
Schedule and attend practices and develop and implement individual and team training plans in line with overall program goals and philosophy.
Ensure each athlete has been cleared by the athletic office to participate.
Follow rules and regulations established by CCSD, the Centennial League, and the Colorado High School Activities Association.
Monitor athletes’ attendance, behavior, and academic status.
Use approved first-aid and CPR skills.
Recognize signs and symptoms of concussion and remove players exhibiting them.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
