About The Position

The Assistant Boys Basketball Coach assists in developing and maintaining a successful athletic program. The position works under the immediate supervision of the Head Coach and supports student-athlete instruction, game preparation, player development, and positive engagement with the school and community. This is a stipend position paying $2,648–$3,098 per school year; filling the position depends on the number of participants. Leaves and benefits are not provided.

Requirements

Evidence of successful competitive playing and/or coaching experience.
Must be at least 19 years old, per WIAA regulations.
Current First Aid/CPR card.

Nice To Haves

College or university training or experience in the activity.
Coaching experience at the middle school level.

Responsibilities

Work positively with student athletes to teach essential athletic skills, competitive attitudes, and how to win gracefully and lose with dignity.
Prepare for games.
Present the program positively to the community.
Work within the guidelines of WIAA, the Bi-State League, and the Pullman School District.
Provide leadership in developmental programs.
Coordinate player development and skill levels.
Cooperate with other school programs.
Develop support for the program from players, students, parents, and the community.
Adjust the system to available player personnel upon recommendation of the Head Coach.
Practice strong interpersonal skills with staff, parents, community members, and other agencies.
Build a positive team and work collaboratively.
Meet multiple demands in pressure situations while maintaining high-quality work.
Maintain confidentiality.
Communicate clearly, orally and in writing.
Demonstrate professionalism in appearance, actions, decisions, and overall performance.
Work with minimal supervision and remain flexible.
