About The Position

VitalCore Health Strategies (VCHS), a leader in Correctional Healthcare, is seeking an Assistant Mental Health Coordinator for the Mecklenburg County Detention Center North in Charlotte, North Carolina. This role is for an LCMHC, LCSW, or equivalent. The Assistant Behavioral Health Coordinator aids the BH Coordinator in developing, implementing, supervising, and monitoring a Behavioral Health delivery system that meets NCCHC/ACA standards. This role involves collaboration with regional managers, site administrators, medical directors, and psychiatrists to coordinate contract services and work with all disciplines to effectively serve the patient population.

Requirements

  • Doctorate or Master’s degree in psychology or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Licensed (or license eligible with application pending) to practice psychology or social work in the state where services are being delivered (LCMHC, LCSW, LMFT, or equivalent).
  • Satisfactory background investigation report.
  • Extensive experience in behavioral health services, training, and supervision.
  • Must possess strong clinical leadership and interpersonal skills within the correctional environment.
  • Must possess familiarity with regional BH resources and networks.
  • Must possess solid grasp of VitalCore Policies and Form

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Coordinator in supervising and planning the development and implementation of treatment programs contracted to VitalCore.
  • Collaborates with the Coordinator in providing clinical and/or administrative supervision to staff of Behavioral Health Services.
  • Collaborates with the Coordinator in monitoring the efforts of behavioral health services to ensure clinical services are being provided in a timely, professional manner.
  • Performs individual and group therapeutic interventions as appropriate.
  • Performs specific psychiatric social service work on the Behavioral Health unit of a correctional facility.
  • Participates in and conducts in-service programs, as well as assists in the orientation of new staff.
  • Assists in planning and implementing the goals and objectives of programs/projects. May direct special projects as requested.
  • Provides the necessary preparation of documentation, necessary records, and reports.
  • Attends training and meetings as required.
  • Assists in coordinating the facility’s Behavioral Health Quality Improvement Program.
