About The Position

The Assistant Behavior Analyst (ABA) Intern for the Children’s Center for Autism (CCA) provides behavior analysis services for autistic individuals, ages 2-21, under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Under supervision, the ABA Intern provides hands-on Applied Behavior Analysis therapy directly with the client, trains parents/staff/significant others, performs functional behavioral assessments, preference assessments, and skills assessments. They also develop, implement, and evaluate behavior analysis treatment programs, train/monitor staff, and participate as part of a collaborative team. The intern conducts direct observations, collects and summarizes data, and documents training progress. Work is conducted at the center, in the client’s home, and other community settings. The ABA Intern works with a caseload of 5-10 clients and may work with multiple Board-Certified Behavior Analysts. The intern complies with the BACB's Ethics Code for Behavior Analysts and the Texana Business Code of Conduct, as well as all requirements outlined in the BACB BCaBA Handbook and BACB updates.

Requirements

  • At least one year’s experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities.
  • At least one year of experience providing direct ABA services (i.e., BT, RBT, or other staff implementing behavior analysis programs per protocol).
  • Experience with data collection, behavior reduction programs, and/or skill acquisition programming.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience developing and maintaining professional relationships with clients, caregivers, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED (for applicants pursuing their BCaBA certification).
  • Current Registered Behavior Technician Certification obtained through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
  • Documented completion of at least two undergraduate college courses in Applied Behavior Analysis that meet the BACB BCABA requirements.
  • Proof of current enrollment in qualifying BACB behavior-analytic coursework toward a degree that meets the BACB requirements for a BCABA.
  • Ability to enter and maintain a BACB-compliant supervision contract.
  • Commitment to completing and documenting required supervised fieldwork hours under a qualified BCBA supervisor in a timely fashion.
  • Must be flexible and demonstrate an ability to problem solve.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to receive feedback, participate in supervision meetings, and implement behavior-analytic procedures.
  • Ability to pass required background checks and meet organizational employment requirements.
  • Fingerprinting required through the Department of Public Safety.

  • Experience in the RBT role at CCA or a similar setting.
