8th Grade Boys Assistant Basketball Coach
About The Position
Bishop O'Gorman Catholic Schools is seeking an 8th Grade Boys Assistant Basketball Coach to inspire and mentor students on and off the court. The role supports the school’s mission to form a community of faith and learning through Gospel values and academic excellence, and is expected to foster an environment of trust while exhibiting the core values of Faith, Unity, Excellence, and Integrity. The assistant coach helps direct and coordinate interscholastic athletics at the school, follows Metro Conference and SDHSAA policies, supervises students and athletic areas, and provides supervision during travel to away games. The position also involves maintaining constructive staff relationships with other coaches and completing assigned duties.
Requirements
- Exhibit Bishop O'Gorman Catholic Schools' core values of Faith, Unity, Excellence, and Integrity.
- Complete required training courses.
- Have hand-eye/mind-eye coordination and physical dexterity, including the ability to bend, stoop, walk, talk, and sit.
- Have the ability to travel between locations.
Nice To Haves
- BA/BS in Education preferred.
- High school coaching experience desired.
Responsibilities
- Promote the mission of Bishop O'Gorman Catholic Schools.
- Assist in directing and coordinating interscholastic athletics at the school.
- Operate within the policies of the Metro Conferences and the SDHSAA.
- Supervise dressing rooms and the playing area during and after team participation.
- Remain with and supervise students while traveling to away games.
- Maintain a staff relationship with other coaches.
- Perform various duties as assigned.
