About The Position

Texas A&M University is seeking an Assistant Baseball Coach to join their Athletic Director's department. This role involves coaching, recruiting, administration, academic monitoring, compliance, and public relations, all under the direction of the Head Coach. The university is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment and is a proud member of the Southeastern Conference, with over 650 student-athletes competing at the NCAA Division 1-A level in 20 varsity sports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of baseball coaching/teaching/playing experience.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree.
  • Previous Division I college coaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coaching: Provides instruction, demonstration, and teaching of the sport's dynamics to student-athletes to ensure maximum potential. Assists in coaching the team during scheduled events and helps develop and implement strategies for optimal team and individual performance.
  • Recruiting: Scouts and recruits prospective student-athletes from high schools, junior colleges, and community colleges. Makes recommendations to the head coach regarding potential student-athletes. Assists in determining academic qualifications and suitability for admission.
  • Administration: Performs administrative duties as assigned by the Head Coach, which may include coordinating team travel, competitive schedules, practice sessions, recruiting databases, opponent files (hard copy and video), developing scouting reports, analyzing opponent film, and assisting with uniform and equipment purchases and organizing on-campus visits.
  • Academics: Monitors the scholastic progress of student-athletes, assists in enforcing mandatory study programs for those with academic difficulties, and enforces Athletic Department requirements for class attendance and make-up coursework.
  • Compliance: Maintains thorough knowledge of NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations. Ensures communication and enforcement of rules concerning student-athletes' conduct, appearance, road games, punctuality, and other areas.
  • Public Relations: Participates in media-related activities such as interviews and press conferences. Accepts speaking engagements and makes public appearances at schools, Aggie Clubs, banquets, and civic organizations.
