About The Position

The Assistant Baseball Coach supports Stetson University by promoting Stetson Athletics and developing students to be successful in society. The Assistant Baseball Coach reports to the Head Men’s Baseball Coach and assists in the coaching, instructing, and administration of all aspects of a highly competitive men’s baseball program in accordance with NCAA Division I rules and philosophies. Two positions will be filled from this posting. All positions will perform the duties and responsibilities outlined below. In addition, one position will be designated as Pitching Coach and one position will be designated as Player Development Coach.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required or five years of coaching or professional playing experience.
  • Two to five years of demonstrated collegiate or professional baseball coaching experience.
  • A commitment to the academic goals of Stetson University.
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations; and a commitment to adhere to all policies, rules and regulations of the NCAA and ASUN Conference as required.
  • Ability to work effectively with student-athletes, alumni, program boosters, the public, and administrative staff.
  • Ability to recruit, coach, and teach athletes with a wide range of skill levels the fundamentals and theories of baseball.
  • Possession and maintenance of a Florida driver's license and insurable driving record is required.
  • A motor vehicle record check and candidate background check must be passed prior to official hire.
  • Division I baseball experience, professional baseball experience, or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to cultivate and build relationships with donors and alumni.
  • Ability to support the University's Mission and Values in all aspects of the role.
  • Detail-oriented.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or six or more years of experience coaching collegiate and/or professional baseball.
  • Ability to lead with integrity and positively influence the lives and athletic careers of student-athletes on the baseball team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superb organizational skills to effectively manage and lead the baseball program.

Responsibilities

  • Motivates and inspires student-athletes to excel in the classroom and on the field.
  • Assists the Men’s Baseball Coach in the administration of all aspects of the men’s baseball program.
  • Identifies, evaluates, and recruits prospective student-athletes.
  • Evaluates and teaches current student athletes in the program.
  • Assists in the coordination and preparation for all preseason, in-season, and postseason training, practices, and games.
  • Assists in all areas relating to the operation of the baseball program, including day-to-day administrative and operational responsibilities.
  • Attends functions related to the baseball program as a representative of the Hatter Athletic Fund.
  • Manages all donor and special events, including planning, invitations, staffing, and implementation. Events include, but are not limited to, the Baseball Golf Outing fundraiser and the annual First Pitch Banquet.
  • Collaborates with staff members to develop and execute programs in support of departmental initiatives.

  • Work authorization sponsorship may be available for this position. However, sponsorship is contingent upon the non-applicability of the visa petition fees outlined in the relevant Executive Order signed September 19, 2025. Due to the recent federally-mandated increased financial expense, the university is not in a position to absorb this significantly increased cost of sponsorship for new H-1B petitions at this time.
