About The Position

The Assistant Baseball Coach (Pitching Focus) And Director of Analytics/Operations supports the Head Baseball Coach in the administration, organization, and daily operation of the baseball program in a manner consistent with the mission and values of Miami University, the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, the NCAA, and the Mid-American Conference (MAC). This position serves as the primary pitching coach while leading the program analytics and operational functions and contributing to recruiting, student-athlete development, academic support, and compliance initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the pitching coach for the baseball program.
  • Plan, organize, and conduct pitching instruction during practices, training sessions, and competitions.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of daily practice activities and player development programs.
  • Lead the collection, analysis, and presentation of player performance data to support athlete development, scouting, and game strategy.
  • Prepare and present video analysis, scouting reports, performance evaluations, and analytical insights for student-athletes and coaching staff.
  • Assist with game preparation, opponent scouting, strategy development, and in-game coaching responsibilities.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of strength and conditioning programs, including individualized development plans for student-athletes.
  • Promote a positive team culture and serve as a mentor and role model for student-athletes.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes who demonstrate the academic and athletic qualities necessary for success at Miami University.
  • Build and maintain relationships with prospective student-athletes, families, coaches, and other recruiting contacts through phone calls, email correspondence, virtual meetings, and in-person visits.
  • Research and evaluate the academic and athletic credentials of prospective student-athletes.
  • Assist in determining recruiting priorities, territories, travel schedules, scholarship recommendations, and roster management strategies.
  • Coordinate and facilitate official and unofficial campus visits, including overnight visits and related programming.
  • Assist with on-campus recruiting activities and visit logistics.
  • Support student-athlete retention efforts and overall roster development.
  • Monitor and support the academic progress of student-athletes.
  • Collaborate with academic support staff to promote academic success and degree completion.
  • Meet regularly with student-athletes regarding academic expectations, coursework, time management, and personal development.
  • Communicate with faculty and campus partners regarding student-athlete academic needs and competition-related absences.
  • Provide support, encouragement, and guidance regarding student-athlete well-being.
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the baseball program.
  • Coordinate all aspects of team travel, including transportation, lodging, meals, airfare, practice arrangements, itineraries, and travel logistics.
  • Coordinate team arrangements during University break periods and extended travel periods.
  • Organize and manage coach, player, and team ticket requests.
  • Assist with the planning, organization, and execution of team camps, clinics, and special events.
  • Assist with the organization and daily setup of practices, including equipment management, drill preparation, and facility needs.
  • Ensure facilities, locker rooms, equipment, and game-day operations are organized and prepared for practices, competitions, and visiting teams.
  • Assist with equipment inventory, maintenance, and distribution.
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate student managers and other support personnel.
  • Serve as the baseball program liaison with Athletics Game Operations, Marketing, Communications, and other departmental units.
  • Assist with tracking program expenditures and monitoring budget-related activities.
  • Support the coordination of alumni engagement activities, donor relations efforts, and special events.
  • Collaborate effectively with athletics department staff, campus partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of and adherence to NCAA, MAC, University, and departmental rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Promote and monitor compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to recruiting, student-athletes, analytics, and program operations.
  • Ensure the safety, health, and well-being of student-athletes.
  • Communicate effectively with the Head Coach regarding team matters, player development, recruiting, operations, and program administration.
  • Coordinate and support team community engagement and outreach initiatives.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, committees, professional development activities, and community engagement programs.
  • Represent the baseball program and Miami University in a professional and positive manner.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach and/or Athletic Administration.
