About The Position

The Hay-Adams is seeking an Assistant Bar Manager to support the Bar Manager in all aspects of managing the bar operations. This role involves overseeing floor management, training initiatives, assisting with cocktail menu development, and supporting the team. The ideal candidate will be pleasant, conscientious, and professional, possessing extensive knowledge of mixology, products, and alcoholic beverage selections. Strong teamwork, clear communication, and a commitment to smooth service operations and quality service are essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management/Restaurant Management preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Two to Three years related experience and/or training.
  • Knowledge of food service operations and a variety of styles of services.
  • Must be able to obtain any/all locally required licenses/certifications that relate to the job being performed such as TIPS or ServeSafe food safety certifications.
  • Must maintain all established standards of excellence at all times and make every effort to meet and/or exceed all guest expectations or requests.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests and other employees.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform mathematical operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the bar area, including supervising set-up, restocking, cleanliness, and maintaining standards.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of both front and back of the house areas.
  • Assists the entire front of house team with all elements of service, taking ownership of the bar, knowing guest preferences, greeting, seating, running, bussing, and re-setting tables.
  • Executes and facilitates service in cooperation with Bartenders, sommeliers, and managers, and facilitates communication between FOH & BOH.
  • Describes dinner features, including menu changes and daily additions, as needed.
  • Follows through and communicates with the Management team/Chef on VIP procedures and special requests.
  • Conducts continuous training with the service team regarding the spirit and cocktail list, and provides complete training for all new hires.
  • Participates in Pre-Shift meetings and trains on new menu items.
  • Works closely with the Bar Manager, DFB, and Chef de Cuisine to design an effective menu and beverage list, ensuring excellent product quality at a fair price.
  • Attends regular operational meetings to ensure effective coordination and cooperation between departments.
  • Takes bar supplies and equipment inventory weekly and monthly with the Bar Manager.
  • Conducts monthly beverage inventory while maintaining necessary par levels for the Bar.
