About The Position

The Assistant Bakery Manager develops the skills and knowledge needed to be considered for a Bakery Department Manager role. This position supervises bakery department operations and ensures that Lowes Foods guest service, merchandising programs, and operating standards are maintained. The Assistant Bakery Manager assumes the Department Manager’s duties in their absence.

Requirements

Ability to work well with others.
Ability to lift 25 pounds consistently and 50 pounds occasionally.
Ability to read and understand information and direction.
Knowledge of bakery operations.
Ability to supervise people, including training and development.
Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
Effective communication, guest service, and selling skills.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Ability to bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
Ability to communicate effectively with the Store Manager and Merchandiser.
Ability to work well with computers.

Responsibilities

Ensure guests receive polite, friendly service from bakery department staff.
Achieve budgeted sales, shrink, and profits for the bakery department.
Maintain desired levels of inventory and supplies.
Operate the department according to merchandising and operational guidelines and programs.
Ensure products for sale meet Lowes Foods quality standards.
Maintain sanitation and safety throughout the department according to Lowes Foods standards.
Provide guidance, orientation, training, and feedback to help bakery department hosts meet performance standards.
Perform product preparation, receiving, ordering, stocking, and guest service as needed to meet standards.
Maintain the department’s labor budget and scheduling standards.
Perform PA announcements.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Assume the Department Manager’s duties in their absence.
