The City and Borough of Juneau Law Department is seeking an attorney to join its criminal prosecution team. The Assistant Attorney I/II is primarily dedicated to criminal prosecution, handling misdemeanor offenses including driving under the influence, larceny, assault, code enforcement, and other municipal crimes. From arraignments through jury trials, this position manages an independent caseload alongside another Assistant Attorney, appears regularly in court, and works closely with the Juneau Police Department and other justice partners to promote public safety. The Juneau Law Department is a close-knit team of attorneys and paralegals handling approximately 1,100 criminal cases annually. The position offers substantial courtroom experience, meaningful responsibility from day one, and the opportunity to develop as a trial attorney while helping to protect the community. Prosecutors enjoy a practice focused on litigation and public service without the demands of billable hours.
