About The Position

The Washington State Attorney General's Office (AGO) is seeking to fill an Assistant Attorney General (AAG) position within the Regional Services Division in Wenatchee. This role will primarily focus on representing the Department of Labor and Industries. The position offers a diverse client advice and litigation practice, representing clients committed to serving their local communities and the people of the State of Washington. While workers' compensation cases will be the main assignment, there are opportunities to gain experience with other state agencies and educational institutions. The Wenatchee office comprises 10 attorneys and 13 professional staff, serving various state agencies and higher education institutions in Okanogan, Chelan, Grant, Douglas, and Kittitas Counties. Client agencies include the Department of Children Youth and Families (DCYF), the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), the Department of Labor and Industries (LNI), and Wenatchee Valley College. Requirements

  • Graduated from a law school accredited by the ABA or completed the WSBA's Rule 6 Law Clerk Program
  • Licensed to practice law in Washington state
  • Applicants who meet the other stated qualifications and are actively pursuing admission by motion will also be considered
  • Committed to public service as demonstrated by an applicant's background, talents, attitude, and enthusiasm for public law practice

Responsibilities

  • Analyze court files
  • Evaluate cases for settlement possibilities
  • Conduct discovery
  • Consult witnesses
  • Prepare witnesses and evidence for hearing or trial
  • Review reports submitted to the court
  • Prepare and respond to motions
  • Issue briefs and memoranda within a relatively short timeframe
