About The Position

Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell seeks a highly motivated attorney to join her Office’s Consumer Protection Division as an Assistant Attorney General. The Division enforces the Massachusetts Consumer Protection Act (M.G.L. c. 93A) and seeks to protect consumers from abusive practices in debt collection, automobile sales, mortgage lending, and student lending, among many other areas. Racial justice is a strategic priority of the Office, and we aim to serve the most vulnerable consumers in the Commonwealth.

Requirements

  • Must be a member of the Massachusetts Bar.
  • Ability to integrate new and complicated subject areas.
  • Excellent formal and informal writing, legal analysis, negotiation, oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to analyze and explain complex data.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to practicing law in the public interest.
  • Demonstrate a connection to the people and communities we serve and an interest in supporting a respectful and inclusive work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • At least three (3) years of prior complex litigation or equivalent legal experience.
  • Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, or other languages.

Responsibilities

  • Pursuing major litigation involving social media platforms and children.
  • Identifying problematic business practices that negatively impact consumers.
  • Evaluating suitability of practices for enforcement.
  • Investigating and litigating civil actions on behalf of the Commonwealth.
  • Developing and implementing strategies for remedying industrywide consumer abuses.
  • Participating in legislative and regulatory policy development at both the state and federal levels.
