About The Position

This position enforces the Virginia Fair Housing Law (VFHL) and the Virginia
Human Rights Act (VHRA). The attorney conducts investigations and brings civil
actions under the VFHL and the VHRA that raise an issue of general public
importance or that involve a pattern or practice of discrimination in housing,
employment, and places of public accommodation. The attorney advises and
conducts litigation for the Fair Housing and Real Estate Boards under the VFHL.
The position requires the ability to conduct complex civil litigation in state
circuit courts involving subject matter jurisdiction, adequacy and admissibility
of evidence, proper application of judicial precedent, and the rules of civil
procedure. This attorney will work closely with the OCR paralegal,
investigators, and other attorneys. Attorney also advises on related bills
during legislative session.

Requirements

• The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three to five (3-5) years of relevant litigation experience with a background in civil rights.
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills are required.
• Must be admitted to the Virginia State Bar.
