About The Position

The Ohio Attorney General's Office is seeking an experienced and motivated candidate for an Assistant Attorney General - Criminal Prosecutor in the Health Care Fraud Section. This section battles fraud in the health care industry through the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit and the Workers' Compensation Fraud Unit. The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit investigates and prosecutes health care providers accused of defrauding the state's Medicaid program and enforces Ohio's Patient Abuse and Neglect Law. The Workers' Compensation Fraud Unit prosecutes claimants, employers, and health care providers who defraud the Ohio Workers' Compensation Program. Successful candidates will work independently and possess excellent research and writing skills. Criminal Law experience is a plus. This position will work a hybrid in-person/remote schedule, with potential changes based on training and operational needs. The headquarter location is the Columbus Office.

Requirements

• Licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio pursuant to Section 4705.01 of the Ohio Revised Code.
• Excellent research and writing skills.
• Must have been in their current positions for at least 12 months in order to be eligible for consideration.

Nice To Haves

• Criminal Law experience is a plus.
• Experience in Litigation and Criminal law.

Responsibilities

• Prosecute, present cases to the grand jury, and handle all trial and appellate matters related to allegations of fraud against the Medicaid program and patient abuse and neglect in care facilities; as well as allegations of fraud against the Ohio Workers Compensation program.
• Appears in public or private, formal or informal settings to discuss law and policy; fulfills exclusive authorization of Attorney General to practice law on behalf of state personnel.
• Enforces state laws and regulations concerning health, safety, welfare, crime and civil statutes.
• Drafts and reviews legal documents (e.g. motions, briefs, etc.).
• Drafts and responds to discovery.
• Works closely with Medicaid Special Agents throughout investigation and prosecution of cases.
• Assigns technical personnel (e.g. investigators) to collect evidence and data for case work for cases involving Medicaid fraud and patient abuse and neglect in preparation for court or presentation to grand jury.
