Assistant Attending (Day Hospitalist)
About The Position
The Hospital Medicine Service in the Division of Supportive and Acute Care Services, Department of Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is seeking a full-time day-hospitalist faculty member at the Assistant Attending level. We are a team of over 45 faculty (including both day hospitalists and nocturnists) with a focus on internal medicine and oncology. We have built an outstanding team of hospitalists where we have pioneered and led the field of “oncology hospital medicine.” The majority of our hospitalists are internal medicine trained/boarded; no specific training in medical oncology is required. Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is one of the world’s premier cancer centers, committed to exceptional patient care, leading-edge research, and superb educational programs. Requirements
- Graduated from an ACGME-accredited residency program
- Superb clinical and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary team
- Superior communication skills
- Familiarity with clinical research
- Board certification or board eligibility in internal medicine
- Eligibility for licensure in New York State
Nice To Haves
- Strong palliative medicine skills are a plus (subspecialty training not required)
Responsibilities
- Leading an inpatient solid tumor team with primary responsibility for the care of hospitalized patients; no direct care responsibilities (i.e. every team has housestaff and/or APPs)
- 23 weeks (7 day weeks) with 3 weeks of back-up for day coverage
- Achieving an outstanding balance between the hospitalist’s autonomy and the support of our oncologists
