Assistant Athletic Trainer

About The Position

The University of Pikeville is seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer for its Sports Medicine Department. The successful candidate will perform sports medicine duties for multiple university sports teams, including providing coverage at practices and games and supporting the operation of the department. Requirements

Master’s degree or higher in Athletic Training.
Certification by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification.
Familiarity with operating modalities and sports-related equipment, such as an estim/ultrasound machine, ice machine, whirlpool, and water boys.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to manage and direct sports medicine staff.
Excellent communication skills.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
Ability to perform simple calculations.
Familiarity with conducting research on the web and creating online travel arrangements.

Responsibilities

Provide coverage for athletic practice sessions and game events, both at home and away.
Assist with assigning sport coverage among sports medicine staff.
Supervise work-study and scholarship students working in the sports medicine department.
Recruit scholarship students to assist the sports medicine department.
Maintain sports medicine rooms as needed to provide a positive experience for student-athletes.
Perform administrative duties as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
