Under the direction of the Associate A.D. / Director of Sports Medicine, the Athletic Trainer assists in the management of the overall Athletics Sports Medicine program within athletics, university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. Under the direction of team physicians, the role is responsible for the care and prevention of injuries for women’s volleyball and other possible assigned sports and student-athletes. Responsibilities include research of best practices, execution of emergency care, injury prevention/reduction, student-athlete recovery, and monitoring during return to play progressions. The role involves active communication and collaboration with team physicians, supervisor, athletic training staff, sports psychologists, performance nutrition, sports performance, and coaching staff regarding student-athlete injury, health, wellness, and athletic participation. The position also includes organizing and executing pre-participation physical screenings, educating student-athletes on injury prevention and self-care, providing medical coverage for athletic activities, and maintaining health records. Additionally, the role collaborates with medical clinics and insurance coordinators, supervises student athletic trainers and volunteers, and manages the athletic training facility and equipment. Other duties as assigned.
