About The Position

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer in Boca Raton, FL. The Assistant Athletic Trainer assists the Head Trainer with the coordination and administration of the athletic training program, providing competent and complete medical care for student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics under the direction of the team physician and the athletic director.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of related experience; OR a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the appropriate area of specialization and three years of related experience.
  • Successful experience as a graduate assistant or intern in an athletic program is acceptable for up to one year of the required experience.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain the National Athletic Trainer Associate Certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for student-athletes.
  • Administer first aid to injured athletes and apply protective devices such as taping, bandaging, or bracing.
  • Assist Head Athletic Trainer and team physician(s) in determining athlete fitness for participation.
  • Assist in the administration of the program, athletic pre-participation physicals, echocardiograms, and drug-testing programs.
  • Work cooperatively with, and under, the direction of the team physician regarding therapeutic devices and equipment, fitting of braces, guards, or other devices, and referrals to physicians, health services, or hospitals.
  • Coordinate and submit Olympic sport spreadsheets to the Compliance Office and coordinate dates and times with coaches and Boca Raton Regional Hospital for Olympic Sport pre-participation physicals.
  • Act as an Insurance Liaison with Student Health Services for domestic student-athletes and work with outside insurance groups and International Student and Scholar Services for international students to ensure compliance with University protocol.
  • Referral and documentation/billing updates for student-athletes by Student Health Center Liaison.
  • Oversee annual budget development with the business office.
  • Evaluate new athletic training products with the Head Athletic Trainer.
  • Delegate and oversee inventory with assistant athletic trainers for Budget/Inventory.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as requested by the Head Athletic Trainer.
