The Assistant Athletic Trainer provides injury prevention, evaluation, and treatment services to LSUE student athletes at specified practices, games, events, and tournaments. The role includes maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records and communicating with appropriate physicians. The assistant supports customized injury prevention and rehabilitation programs, provides on-site care for injuries and illnesses, and helps ensure athlete safety through instruction, protective devices, emergency action plans, and policies and procedures. The position also supports communication among athletic trainers, coaches, physicians, and student athletes; baseline concussion testing; and injury documentation. Employees are expected to refer students who appear to need emotional, behavioral, or mental health support to the appropriate Student Health Center service. If a student appears to pose a danger to themselves or others, the employee should immediately contact the Care Team, Dean of Students, or appropriate law enforcement agency. The job posting notes that employees should not imply client or patient confidentiality beyond rights provided by FERPA. Employment is contingent on a satisfactory pre-employment background check. LSU describes benefits for eligible employees and their dependents, including insurance, retirement options, leave, paid holidays, wellness benefits, tuition exemption for qualified positions, training and development, and employee discounts. Positions approved to work outside Louisiana are employed through nextSource Workforce Solutions and are subject to the benefits and retirement arrangements of that provider rather than State of Louisiana benefits.
