About The Position

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Athletics and Recreation department is seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer. The Assistant Athletic Trainer evaluates athletic injuries, consults with team physicians and/or healthcare professionals, provides health care, and referrals for patients in support of injury care and injury prevention for 16 varsity sports. This is a 10-month appointment that is active during the academic year (August through May). The salary for this 10-month appointment is $45,000.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • NATA BOC certification.
  • Wisconsin license eligible.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, AED certification.
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings and flexible hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of NCAA and Conference (WIAC) rules and regulations is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide practice and event coverage including evenings and weekends.
  • Supervision of athletic training facilities, student undergrad first aiders and MAT students (preceptor).
  • Provide care, prevention, evaluation, rehabilitation and documentation of injuries for student-athletes in accordance with state and federal laws.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable University, conference, and NCAA rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Communicate and collaborate with sports medicine, external medical providers, coaching, and athletic administration staff is expected.
  • Sport assignments and other duties as assigned to be determined by the Head Athletic Trainer (or designee).
