Requirements

  • A current Virginia athletic training license and BOC certification must be submitted.
  • Candidate must possess the ability to pass a background check
  • Current knowledge in the field of Athletic Training
  • Proven ability to collaborate, effectively communicate, work independently
  • Ability to exhibit sufficient strength, agility, dexterity, mobility, visual and auditory acuity to carry out all performance responsibilities and provide immediate response to student-athletes’ needs
  • Candidate must possess leadership and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with student-athletes, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provides athletic training services for E.C. Glass home athletic contests and athletic practices as scheduled by the principal, athletic director, and/or Head Athletic Trainer.
  • Communicates with other licensed healthcare providers, coaches, student-athletes, parents, and school administrators as necessary.
  • Maintains accurate medical records.
  • Communicates to coaches and athletic directors any student-athletes whose readiness to participate is affected by an injury or their physical condition.
  • Provide athletic training services at a schedule to be determined by the administrators, athletic director, and/or Head Athletic Trainer.
  • The management and provision of care of injuries to a physically active person as defined in the state practice act with the direction of a licensed physician.
  • The term includes the rendering of emergency care, development of injury prevention programs and providing appropriate preventative and devices for the physically active person.
  • The term also includes the assessment, management, treatment, rehabilitation and recondition of the physically active person whose conditions are within the professional preparation and education of a certified athletic trainer.
  • The term also includes the use of modalities such as mechanical stimulation, heat, cold, light, air, water, electricity, sound, massage and the use of therapeutic exercises, reconditioning exercise and fitness programs.
