About The Position

The Assistant Athletic Trainer will work under the medical supervision of the head team physician and is responsible for working with the day-to-day athletic training operations for the assigned sport(s). Collaborate with Strength and Conditioning, Nutrition and Mental Health providers and assist the Director of Athletic Training with other administrative duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current National Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers
  • CPR and AED Certification for healthcare workers by an accredited organization
  • Current or eligible State of Maryland Athletic Trainer Licensure
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Two (2) years of experience as a certified athletic trainer in a collegiate or professional sports organization
  • Knowledge of injury prevention and rehabilitation
  • Skill in oral and written communication
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws
  • Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service and sensitivity to a culturally and ethnically diverse community

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree from an accredited athletic training educational program degree or related field
  • 5 years of experience with collegiate or professional baseball or softball
  • Strong background in upper extremity evaluation and management, including throwing specific rehab, prevention strategies and return to sport programing
  • Experience coordinating and managing physicians appointments and care plans

Responsibilities

  • Injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of student-athletes
  • Pre-participation physicals
  • Maintaining medical records and submitting medical documentation
  • Completing required insurance claims
  • Daily interaction and communication with coaching staff, team physicians, resident athletic trainers, and administration
  • Attending team practices, game coverage and events (including travel to away games)
  • Injury track and analysis
  • Appointment scheduling
  • Direct oversight of student workers
  • Serving as the clinical mentor to students in training
  • Manages injury prevention programming
