About The Position

Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking an energetic assistant coach to develop a competitive and representative girls soccer team. Coaches emphasize teamwork, leadership, character, athletic skills, and wholesome attitudes among teammates and sport participants. This position supports the school’s athletic program and works cooperatively with head coaches. The position is for the spring junior varsity girls soccer season in the 2026–2027 school year. Employment may be offered as a fixed stipend additional to an employee’s annual salary or income. Schedules may vary by school or sport type.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years of age.
• One year of coaching experience in the assigned sport.
• CPR and First Aid certification, or the ability to enroll in and successfully complete a CPR and First Aid training course.

Nice To Haves

• At least 21 years of age.
• Current teacher or classified employee of Spotsylvania County Public Schools.

Responsibilities

• Help maintain high academic standards for all student-athletes.
• Work cooperatively with the head athletic coach(es) to operate a well-balanced athletic program.
• Serve as a positive influence on the behavior of athletic staff and team members.
• Engage and direct the team at varsity events, attend junior varsity and freshman contests as often as possible, and support athlete supervision at invitational meets or postseason competitions.
• Manage sports equipment inventory and care of supplies; recommend new or replacement equipment when needed.
• Support systems for encouraging students to try out and recruiting equipment managers, scorekeepers, statisticians, ball runners, and other team support roles.
• Ensure athletes have completed and passed medical examinations before the regular practice season begins.
• Collect and maintain files, records, statistics, news items, and photographs for athletic teams under supervision.
• Observe sub-varsity practices and games as required.
