About The Position

As Boston College enters the third year of the public phase of Soaring Higher: the Campaign for Boston College, a $3B comprehensive campaign with priority areas including Financial Aid, Academics, and Student Life, the University Advancement team is seeking to expand its community. University Advancement is described as large enough to benefit from campus resources yet small enough to be agile and creative. The 250-person centralized organizational structure offers various roles and invests in professional growth through individual and team-based programs. The team values diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, seeking ambitious and committed team members. The Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) team plays a critical role in finding funding for projects and specialized research, acting as a bridge between researchers and private foundations. This role reports to the Director, Corporate and Foundation Relations and requires interaction with faculty, senior administration, trustee volunteers, and major donor prospects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of professional-level experience in corporate and foundation fundraising at the Assistant Director level.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of professional-level experience in corporate and foundation fundraising at the Associate Director level.
  • Minimum 5+ years of professional-level experience in corporate and foundation fundraising at the Sr. Associate Director level.
  • For Senior Associate Director: demonstrate leadership, self-direction, initiative, and problem-solving ability and successfully manage a major corporate and/or foundation prospect portfolio.
  • Preference for experience at an institution of higher education or a hospital at all levels.
  • A combination of corporate, foundation, or organizational fundraising and other directly transferable experience from fields such as government grant-seeking or corporate philanthropy will be considered for all levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to compose strong, clearly written material, including general correspondence and major proposals that articulate funding priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to speak and write persuasively on higher education.
  • Working knowledge of research resources for corporate and foundation fundraising.
  • Familiarity with Windows PCs, the Microsoft Office suite, and the Google suite.
  • Must be a team player who is highly motivated and dedicated to the goals of advancing higher education.
  • An appreciation for Jesuit Catholic education, and the goals and values of Boston College.

Responsibilities

  • Identification of prospects based on extensive analysis using written and online research resources
  • Participating in the cultivation and stewarding of corporate and foundation donors of all levels
  • Involvement in the direct solicitation of corporations and foundations
  • Developing and drafting major proposals and developing fundraising strategies for senior administration and faculty, and other assignments, as necessary.
