About The Position

The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) seeks candidates for the position(s) of Assistant/Associate/Professor of Pediatrics (Neonatology) in the Department of Pediatrics. The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria is a regional campus of one of the largest public medical schools in the United States, known for its small class sizes and exceptional faculty mentorship, allowing students to excel under a rigorous curriculum. UICOMP faculty members provide care to over 45,000 patients annually and contribute to medical education and training for over 260 students and more than 300 physician residents and fellows annually. UICOMP's healthcare partners include Jump Simulation, OSF Saint Medical Center, OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois, and Carle Hearth Greater Peoria. UICOMP is also part of an R1 research institute with translational research focusing on Alzheimer dementia and oncology. Requirements

MD/DO or equivalent medical degree
Successful completion of an accredited residency in pediatrics.
Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine acceptable for American Board of Pediatrics certification.
Board certification in Pediatrics is required.
Board-certified or board-eligible in Neonatology.
Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Illinois.
Enthusiasm to provide clinical care and teaching in an academic setting.
Eligible for an appointment to the medical staff of affiliated clinical facilities.
Eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Illinois College of Medicine commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive inpatient care for critically ill newborns and infants in a Level IV NICU.
Attend high-risk deliveries and provide neonatal resuscitation and stabilization.
Provide consultation and support for newborn and neonatal services within the affiliated regional network, as assigned.
Participate equitably in daytime clinical service, night and weekend call, and holiday coverage.
Collaborate with pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists, maternal-fetal medicine physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
Teach and supervise medical students, pediatric residents, neonatal-perinatal medicine fellows, and advanced practice providers.
Participate in clinical research, scholarly activity, patient-safety initiatives, and quality-improvement work.
Contribute to faculty meetings, committees, curriculum development, mentoring, and other academic responsibilities.
Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation and meet applicable quality, compliance, and productivity expectations.
Perform other related duties and participate in programmatic activities consistent with the needs of the department and institution.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
