About The Position

Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) is seeking an Assistant/Associate/Professor of Family Medicine for a part-time (0.3 FTE, 12 hours/week) position. This role supports the department of Family Medicine and is accountable for teaching, service, and scholarly activity objectives within the College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM). The position reports directly to the Chair of Family Medicine & OPP. PNWU, a 501(c)(3) non-profit medical institution founded in 2005, aims to increase healthcare access in underserved areas of the Pacific Northwest. The university offers several health science degrees and enrolls over 550 students annually, with an additional 100 students through interprofessional education partnerships. The campus has 300 employees and academic programming across a five-state region. Located in Yakima, WA, PNWU is situated in a region known for agriculture and outdoor recreation.

Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree as recognized by United States accrediting associations, or appropriate terminal degree
  • Strong interest in a teaching-focused position
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, and presentation skills
  • Proficient use of academic technologies and learning management systems
  • Professional experience with an exemplary record of achievement in the areas of teaching, service and scholarly activity

Responsibilities

  • Meeting all classes as scheduled
  • Assisting in the recruitment and registration of students
  • Reporting final grades at the designated time
  • Advising students
  • Attending student orientation and commencement exercises
  • Having an appropriate number of office hours
  • Writing course syllabi
  • Developing course materials
  • Administering exams
  • Performing committee assignments
  • Engaging in scholarly activity
  • Maintaining professional development
  • Performing community service
  • Maintaining licensure and certification as appropriate
  • May be required to maintain clinical practice as appropriate
  • Understands accreditation standards and expectations specific to the department and adheres to policies and procedures to meet or exceed such standards
  • Conducts self appropriately and consistently in accordance with the philosophy and mission of PNWU
  • Other duties as assigned
