About The Position

The College of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences at National Louis University is seeking a Full-Time Faculty member with expertise in Clinical Mental Health Counseling or School Counseling. This position is part of a robust, growing CACREP-accredited Master of Science in Counseling Program, which offers advanced graduate training in Clinical Mental Health, School Counseling, and Addictions. The role involves teaching, scholarship, and service, including teaching core counseling courses, supervising practicum/internship, student advising, program development, and university committee work. The successful candidate will demonstrate skill in working with a diverse student and faculty population. Applicants must be Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPC) in Illinois or eligible within 12 months, or Licensed Professional Educators with PEL-School Counseling Endorsement or eligible within 12 months. Members of underrepresented populations are strongly encouraged to apply. This is a Full-Time Open Rank (commensurate with experience) 10-Month faculty position based at the Wheeling campus.

Requirements

  • Earned research or practitioner doctoral degree (PhD or EdD) in Counselor Education & Supervision required (preferably from a CACREP-accredited program)
  • Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Illinois OR Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Counselor endorsement in Illinois
  • Commitment to experientially based education
  • Ability to contribute to and work collaboratively as part of a diverse faculty and with a student body representing a broad range of cultures and identities
  • Knowledge and experience using technology in teaching
  • Eligible to obtain LCPC within 12 months of hire OR eligible to obtain PEL within 12 months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to teach in two or more of the eight (8) CACREP areas
  • Experience working as a clinical or school counselor
  • Teaching experience in the field of counseling
  • Experience in CACREP re-accreditation process and/or CACREP accredited program administration
  • Hold both PEL and LCPC credentials

Responsibilities

  • Teaching core counseling courses (both didactic and clinical, including supervision of practicum/internship) for Masters students
  • Maintain active membership and involvement with appropriate professional organizations
  • Advise and mentor students
  • Engage in university service and professional/scholarly activities
  • Program-level development and assessment crucial for maintaining CACREP accreditation
  • College/university committee work
