About The Position

The Department of Physics at the University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level, with competitive startup, salary, and benefit packages. The candidate's research should be in the area of Biophysics (experimental). Candidates are expected to develop a vigorous and externally funded research program, teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels, mentor student research, and provide service to the department, university and community. An offer of employment for this position will be made dependent upon available funding.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in physics or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to teaching.
  • A minimum of one year of postdoctoral experience, or equivalent professional experience after the Ph.D.
  • Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical organizational infrastructure.

Nice To Haves

  • Outstanding experimentalist within the broad area of biophysics.
  • Ability to develop and lead both independent and collaborative research programs.
  • Research areas may include medical physics, biomaterials, or biophotonics.
  • Experience and connections to human health and associated funding sources.
  • Experience bridging and complementing state-of-the-art physics-focused research.
  • Experience with UNT Ion Beam Laboratory research (e.g., ionizing radiation interactions with biological systems, elemental distributions in biological samples with proton induced x-ray emission spectroscopy).
  • Experience with research on boron induced aneutronic reactions for cancer treatment.
  • Experience in the area of biophotons and their detection for oncology applications.
  • Experience with HSI/MSIs.
  • Speaks Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.
