About The Position

The Assistant/Associate Professor in Occupational Therapy (Tenure Track) position requires a terminal degree (OTD, PhD, EdD) from an accredited university with experience in curriculum development, research, and supervision of graduate projects. Candidates must hold initial certification by NBCOT as an OTR and be licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the State of California by the California Board of Occupational Therapy (CBOT). The role involves a minimum of 4 years of teaching in a doctoral-level occupational therapy program, focusing on curriculum development, assessment and evaluation, and innovative pedagogical approaches. A record of scholarship suitable for promotion and rank is also required.

Requirements

  • Terminal degree (OTD, PhD, EdD) from an accredited university.
  • Experience in curriculum development, research, and supervision of graduate projects.
  • Initial certification by NBCOT as an OTR.
  • Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the State of California by the CBOT.
  • Minimum of 4 years teaching in a doctoral-level occupational therapy program.
  • Experience in curriculum development, assessment and evaluation, and innovative pedagogical approaches.
  • Evidence of scholarship record needed for promotion and rank.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in clinical practice.
  • Experience in supervising Fieldwork Level II students.

Nice To Haves

  • Active member of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
  • Familiarity with ACOTE accreditation standards.
  • 5 years’ experience teaching entry-level occupational therapy content.
  • Experience mentoring graduate student research or capstone projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with simulation or innovative teaching modalities.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
  • Working with online learning management systems to further engage the student learning process.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Products, especially Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and other MS office products as needed.
  • Knowledge of Sacramento medical community and established relationships with professional memberships.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards such as WASC, ACOTE and other accreditation standards.
  • Experience with LMS, AI, VR/AR.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
