About The Position

The School of Nursing, within the Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, is seeking an assistant/associate professor whose teaching and scholarly research agenda is focused on Nursing Leadership. The primary purpose of this role is to provide student-centered teaching and clinical instruction of undergraduate and graduate-level courses. Faculty in this role will provide student advising, student mentoring and recruitment, curriculum development, and engagement in program assessment accreditation-related procedures. The ideal candidate will be expected to: (i) establish and sustain a strong externally-funded research program in their field of expertise; (ii) produce an excellent record of scholarly publications; (iii) incorporate modern pedagogical skills in teaching nursing courses to undergraduate and graduate courses; (iv) teach courses in community health and other non-clinical courses in nursing, advise/coach students, engage in a program of scholarship (including publishing in peer reviewed journals and securing research funding) and provide service to the School of Nursing; and (v) provide service to the SON , the college and university as well as to appropriate community and professional organizations. This is a 9-month, tenure-track position requiring a Ph.D.

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree is required. If the doctoral degree is in a field related to but other than nursing, the applicant must have a graduate degree in nursing.
  • Prior teaching experience in baccalaureate and/or graduate nursing programs or credentials to meet the North Carolina Board of Nursing educational requirement is required.
  • Record of funded research and publications expected of rank as an Assistant Professor.
  • Unrestricted license to practice in North Carolina at the time of appointment is required.
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Meet the requirements for teaching at the baccalaureate level as prescribed by the governing body.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in nursing is preferred
