About The Position

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) School of Dental Medicine invites applications for three (3) full-time, 12-month, non-tenure-track Assistant/Associate/Professor-in-Residence of Clinical Sciences (Pediatric Dentistry) positions. One of these positions will be selected as Program Director, Advanced Education in Pediatric Dentistry. The primary duties include education responsibilities in the predoctoral curriculum and in the CODA-Accredited Advanced Education Program in Pediatric Dentistry. Faculty will coordinate teaching and learning in pediatric dentistry, support competency for general dentists, and train and mentor dentists in the advanced education program. The roles involve providing discipline-specific education, supervision, mentorship, and presenting relevant courses and lectures. Faculty will also ensure the integration of evidence-based curriculum and clinical patient care. The Program Director role, an additional administrative appointment, involves overall oversight of the 24-month postdoctoral program, including curriculum, clinical operations, monitoring, assessment, reporting, and evaluation in accordance with the Commission on Dental Accreditation. This role also ensures compliance with UNLV School of Dental Medicine quality assurance measures, eHR audits, and affiliate external rotation compliance. The Program Director manages the admissions process, ensures resident compliance with protocols and standards, and serves as an administrative link between predoctoral and advanced education programs, fostering an inclusive and diverse environment.

Requirements

  • D.M.D. or D.D.S. degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Certificate of completion of a CODA-accredited advanced education program in pediatric dentistry.
  • Board Certification in Pediatric Dentistry.
  • ACLS certification.
  • Must be eligible for licensure in Nevada.
  • Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
  • Five (5) years of management experience (for Program Director Designation).
  • Ten (10) years of related and supervisory experience (for Program Director Designation).

Responsibilities

  • Provide education responsibilities in the predoctoral curriculum and in the CODA-Accredited Advanced Education Program in Pediatric Dentistry.
  • Coordinate teaching and learning in pediatric dentistry.
  • Support competency of a general dentist for the practice of general dentistry.
  • Train and mentor general dentists enrolled in the advanced education program in pediatric dentistry.
  • Provide discipline-specific education in the area of pediatric dentistry.
  • Supervise and oversee students seeking a DMD/DDS degree.
  • Serve as a professional mentor and role model.
  • Present relevant courses, lectures, seminars and mentoring in this specialty area.
  • Contribute to the training and mentoring of students enrolled in the advanced dental education program in pediatric dentistry.
  • Ensure the appropriate integration of evidence-based curriculum and clinical patient care in both programs.
  • Provide overall broad oversight of the Advanced Education Program in Pediatric Dentistry (for Program Director role).
  • Oversee curriculum development and implementation (for Program Director role).
  • Oversee clinical operations (for Program Director role).
  • Oversee monitoring, assessment, reporting, and evaluation as it relates to Pediatric Dentistry and in accordance with the Commission on Dental Accreditation (for Program Director role).
  • Ensure compliance with all UNLV School of Dental Medicine quality assurance measures and protocols, eHR (AxiUm) records audits (for Program Director role).
  • Coordinate compliance measures associated with affiliate external rotation locations (for Program Director role).
  • Oversee the admissions process, review, and selection (for Program Director role).
  • Ensure residents comply with all previously mentioned protocols, quality assurance, and professional standards (for Program Director role).
  • Provide the administrative association and link between the predoctoral and advanced education programs (for Program Director role).
  • Foster the values of an inclusive and diverse resident, staff, and faculty population (for Program Director role).
