About The Position

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) School of Dental Medicine is seeking to fill three (3) full-time, 12-month, non-tenure-track Assistant/Associate/Professor-in-Residence of Clinical Sciences (Pediatric Dentistry) positions. One of these positions will be selected as the Program Director for the Advanced Education in Pediatric Dentistry program. The primary responsibilities include educating students in the predoctoral curriculum and the CODA-Accredited Advanced Education Program in Pediatric Dentistry. Faculty will coordinate teaching and learning in pediatric dentistry, ensuring competency for general dentists and providing training and mentorship for dentists in the advanced education program. The roles involve providing discipline-specific education, supervision, and mentorship in pediatric dentistry, as well as contributing to evidence-based curriculum and clinical patient care. The Program Director role, in addition to core faculty duties, involves overall oversight of the 24-month postdoctoral program, including curriculum development, clinical operations, assessment, reporting, and ensuring compliance with CODA accreditation standards and UNLV protocols. This includes managing the admissions process, ensuring resident compliance with standards, and serving as a liaison between predoctoral and advanced education programs, fostering an inclusive environment.

Requirements

D.M.D. or D.D.S. degree from an accredited college or university.
Certificate of completion of a CODA-accredited advanced education program in pediatric dentistry.
Board Certification in Pediatric Dentistry.
ACLS certification.
Eligibility for licensure in Nevada.
For Program Director Designation: Five (5) years of management experience.
For Program Director Designation: Ten (10) years of related and supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

Provide discipline-specific education in pediatric dentistry.
Supervise and oversee students seeking a DMD/DDS degree.
Serve as a professional mentor and role model.
Present relevant courses, lectures, seminars, and mentoring in pediatric dentistry.
Contribute to the training and mentoring of students in the advanced dental education program in pediatric dentistry.
Ensure appropriate integration of evidence-based curriculum and clinical patient care in both predoctoral and advanced programs.
For Program Director: Provide overall broad oversight of the Advanced Education Program in Pediatric Dentistry.
For Program Director: Develop and implement the program curriculum.
For Program Director: Oversee clinical operations, monitoring, assessment, reporting, and evaluation for the Pediatric Dentistry program in accordance with CODA.
For Program Director: Ensure compliance with UNLV School of Dental Medicine quality assurance measures and protocols.
For Program Director: Conduct eHR (AxiUm) records audits.
For Program Director: Coordinate compliance measures with affiliate external rotation locations (e.g., University Medical Center hospitals and clinics, VA).
For Program Director: Manage the admissions process, review, and selection of residents.
For Program Director: Ensure residents comply with all UNLV and NSHE protocols, quality assurance, and professional standards.
For Program Director: Provide administrative association and link between predoctoral and advanced education programs.
For Program Director: Foster an inclusive and diverse resident, staff, and faculty population.
