About The Position

The College of Aviation at Western Michigan University invites applications for an academic year, tenure-track faculty position. With three distinct programs, the College offers faculty the opportunity to teach within a specific area or across multiple disciplines, while actively supporting students, colleagues, and staff. Requirements

• Master's degree from an accredited institution.
• FAA pilot certification to include a minimum CPL/CFI or ATP.
• Significant related industry experience in one or more of the following areas: Flight Operations Management Finance Supply Chain Management Safety Security Human Factors
• Excellent communication and computer skills.

Nice To Haves

• Demonstrated history of research and grant writing.
• Earned doctorate from an accredited institution.
• College teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach up to 12 credits in the fall and spring semesters for a total of no more than 24 credits of regularly scheduled courses, or the equivalent, over an academic year.
• Fulfill ongoing department curriculum needs of both a maintenance and developmental nature.
• Provide leadership and service to academic and professional societies through roles in governance, editorial work, conference coordination, and committee participation to support their effective and impactful operation.
• Support university operations through committee service and consultation with campus and community stakeholders.
• Assist students with course advising, consulting, and individual mentoring.
• Encourage and support student involvement in student organizations and internships.
• Engage in scholarly activities, including research, writing, and publication appropriate to the faculty member's discipline or interdisciplinary work.
