About The Position

The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture is a statewide campus with faculty based on University campuses, at Research and Extension Centers and in every Arkansas county. It consists of the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station (AES) and the Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service (CES), and is home to more than 1400 employees. The Division was established in 1959 and is headed by the Vice-President for Agriculture. The Division headquarters is located in Little Rock with the rest of the University of Arkansas System Administration. Requirements

  • An earned Doctorate in Agriculture, Education, or related field, with at least one degree related to youth education.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and have a valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Three or more years of experience in program management and youth education is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain & interpret research information.
  • Ability to anticipate changing trends in assigned discipline area & develop programs to address those changes.
  • Knowledge of the principles & techniques of youth education.
  • Knowledge of the program planning process.
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of professional & lay audiences.
  • Ability to communicate & convey ideas effectively to faculty, stakeholder groups, & clientele.
  • Knowledge of social, economic, political & cultural factors affecting youth learning.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for development, implementation and evaluation of statewide programs in experiential education.
  • Collaborates with others to determine content, priorities and emphasis for experiential education programming.
  • Identifies areas in experiential education that could be impacted by Extension programming efforts for the benefit Arkansas youth.
  • Responsible for educating Division of Agriculture employees working at the state and local levels in areas related to experiential education.
  • Conducts and supports educational activities using direct and/or indirect contact methods to teach or assist extension personnel.
  • Responds to internal requests in a timely manner.
  • Provides research updates to state and county faculty as appropriate.
  • Locates, adapts and/or develops curricula and related support materials for and in partnership with Division of Agriculture state and county faculty for use with youth audiences.
  • Delivers programs upon request throughout the state.
  • Seeks feedback and input from state faculty and agents on program needs and curricular content.
  • Evaluates program outcomes and/or impacts in concert with agents whenever possible.
  • Cultivates and solicits extramural funding to develop and sustain youth education programs.
  • Participates in grant-funded projects led by colleagues as appropriate.
  • Manages related accounts, grants, gifts, and resources in compliance with policy guidelines.
  • The position collects, evaluates, interprets, & develops subject matter information for dissemination through the Extension delivery system.
  • The position provides support to field faculty & serves as a recognized reference source for the organization in the area of expertise.
