About The Position

This position is for an Assistant/Associate/Clinical Professor of PA Studies. The role involves teaching, scholarship, and service within the Physician Assistant program. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background and a desire to contribute to the education of future PAs. The position emphasizes the integration of culturally responsive practices and advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an ARC-PA-accredited PA program, accredited NP program, or MD/DO program.
  • Master’s degree in PA studies or other discipline.
  • Current NCCPA certification or discipline-specific national certification.
  • State licensure in California (or state license eligibility).
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience as a PA, NP, or MD/DO.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, specifically MS Office Suite Programs (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and MS Outlook.
  • Ability to work as a team with administrators, fellow faculty, staff, and students.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.

Nice To Haves

  • DMSc, PhD, DHSc, MD/DO or equivalent preferred.
  • Proficiency in Medical Spanish.
  • Proficiency in POCUS.
  • Experience with advanced technical procedures (e.g. intubation, lumbar puncture, central lines, para and thoracentesis).
  • Academic experience in Physician Assistant Education.
  • Sincere desire for personal growth and development as an educator, including teaching, scholarship, and service throughout the course of your career.
  • Desire to teach and learn from students in all phases of the curriculum.
  • Involvement or desire to be involved in professional organizations within the field of specialty.
  • Involvement or desire to participate in professional education beyond the school, on local, state, regional, national, and international levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
