The Division of Microbiology and Immunology within the Emory National Primate Research Center at Emory University is seeking an Assistant Academic Research Scientist for Dr. Vijayakumar Velu's laboratory. The lab's research focuses on HIV, including vaccination, therapy, pathogenesis, and mucosal immunology, utilizing human cohorts and nonhuman primate models. Additionally, the lab investigates immune responses in human papillomavirus-related cervical and anal cancer in people living with HIV, examining the immunologic underpinnings, microbiome associations, periodontal disease, high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions, and social determinants linked to cancer progression. The ideal candidate will be motivated, dependable, detail-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and have a passion for research. This role requires a team player willing to learn and collaborate with lab and center members, ensuring high-quality laboratory research support and maintaining good communication skills with colleagues, management, PIs, research staff, students, and other support services. The Emory National Primate Research Center (EPC) is dedicated to discovering causes, preventions, treatments, and cures of disease, improving human and animal health worldwide.
