About The Position

A Bloomingdale’s Asset Protection Visual Security Officer (VSO) provides a visible and welcoming presence at the customer entrance to help deter theft while supporting the customer shopping experience. The officer helps maintain a safe environment for customers and colleagues by greeting and engaging customers, offering assistance, and visually monitoring customer traffic. Bloomingdale’s provides an Asset Protection training program to equip officers with the knowledge and tools needed for the job as they grow in responsibility. Officers are expected to maintain a high degree of professionalism in carrying out their duties within the store.

Requirements

• No education or experience is required.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and share information with diverse groups of customers and peers.
• Resourcefulness and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Ability to work a flexible retail schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
• Ability to stand and walk around the store or department for prolonged periods.
• May occasionally need to reach above eye level, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
• Frequently lift or move up to 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome customers while on the selling floor.
• Visually monitor customer traffic entering and exiting the store.
• Deter theft through visual observation.
• Help maintain a safe business environment.
• Communicate suspicious activity to Asset Protection/Security.
