About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Asset Protection Lead & Compliance, Risk & Safety Manager, and under the guidance of the Vice President (V.P.) of Corporate Compliance, the Asset Protection Specialist implements efforts to prevent and minimize the loss of company assets by administering policies, procedures, programs, and practices that protect those assets. This role involves monitoring loss prevention systems and safety practices at all assigned facilities, both on and off-site.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in loss prevention, law enforcement, or investigative services.
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Ability to work with all levels and management.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of computers and how they operate.
  • Ability to solve problems as they arise.
  • Ability to react appropriately in a stressful situation.
  • Extensive knowledge of current laws relating to security issues as they affect employer/employees, service participants, customers, contractors, and others who have contact with or do business with the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to interact with all levels of management, employees, service participants, security agencies, and the general public.
  • Ability to write accurate, concise, and grammatically correct memoranda and reports.
  • Maintains high level of confidentiality.
  • Support ethical standards of organization.
  • Valid CA Driver’s License, liability insurance, and a DMV printout that is acceptable to Goodwill’s insurance company.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year security experience preferred.
  • Valid Guard Card preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the safeguarding of company funds, property, and merchandise, including donated goods.
  • Identify physical security concerns and act on them immediately at store locations.
  • Use overt and covert means to report, investigate, and take appropriate action on internal or external incidents of unauthorized possession of company property, including shoplifting and employee dishonesty.
  • Assist in the company’s Illness and Injury Prevention Program by monitoring safety programs and practices.
  • Assist in training other employees in safety and asset protection.
  • Utilize good interpersonal skills such as courtesy, sensitivity, politeness, and thoughtfulness in dealings with the public and Goodwill employees and participants.
  • Ensure the company CCTV systems are operational on a daily basis.
  • Use provided communication devices such as a company work phone and email in a clear and concise manner.
  • Respond to criminal activity occurring outside of business hours at any Goodwill locations, following established guidelines and policies.
  • Respond to emergency calls and alarm activation calls on a 24/7 basis.
  • Work with minimum supervision.
  • Drive on company business as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
